You can hire a jeep when you reach the bottom of mandalpatti. To avoid inconvenience, it’s suggested to book a jeep from the Y intersection of Abbey Falls and Mandalpatti. There are local drivers at the point of intersection. Prices may be high or low according to the season, but you can negotiate a little. Charges may be around 1500-2000, depending on the season.
Sunrise or sunset?
If you plan to visit sunset, go there before 4:00 pm. If you are planning to witness the sunrise then you have to book a jeep one day before. You need to park your taxi or vehicle at the entrance of mandalpatti, from there your jeep ride will start.
If you are going by vehicle or motorbike
The roads of mandalpatti are not well maintained, there are turns, slopes, muddy-pebble roads, and valleys which makes it quite difficult to drive over. However, motorbikes can go over with good tire grip and good driving skills. Sometimes, the forest depart doesn’t permit you to enter private vehicles inside the forest area, in such cases you need to park your vehicle at the entrance and have to trek until mandalpatti peak.
